- Lift and divide perennials.
- Start mowing the lawn, but only if required.
- Plant lilies and other summer flowering bulbs.
- Plant early potatoes and onions / shallots.
- Prune group 2 & 3 clematis. See our care and cultivation guide for details.
- Feed woody plants with a good quality general purpose fertiliser such as Vitax Q4.
- Start sowing vegetables such as early peas, carrots, lettuces, spinach, salad leaves and leeks, but wait until the weather is warm enough.
- On sunny days, open glasshouse vents to prevent a build-up of humidity.
- If you’ve not done so already, finish pruning your roses.
- Weeds will come back into growth now the weather is milder. Save time later in the year and deal with them before they spread!
