- Greenhouses should be well ventilated and shaded at this time of year to prevent overheating or scorching the plants inside.

- Remove flowering stalks from bamboo promptly. Not only do they look unattractive, they can also weaken the plant.
- Newly planted trees and shrubs often require more water than people imagine. Check regularly and don’t let them dry out.
- Remove suckers from roses and any other grafted / budded trees and shrubs.
- Cut back and feed geraniums and delphiniums after their first flush of flowers. This will encourage a second flowering period.
