Gages

Greengages are stone fruits that thrive in sheltered, warm gardens. Although they bear similar qualities to plums and damsons, their taste varies from tart and spicy, to sweet and perfumed. The fruit is identified by their round-oval shape and smooth-textured, pale green flesh. They tend to be smaller than plums. The skin ranges in colour from green to yellowish, with a pale blue "blush" in some varieties. Gages are known for their rich flavour and are considered to be among the finest dessert plums.
